ABEOKUTA- As part of his effort to ensure food security and increase farm yeild, the member representating Abeokuta North-Odeda and Obafemi Owode Federal Constituencies of Ogun state, Hon. Olumide Osoba has donated fertilizers to 400 farmers in the state.
Osoba, while handing over the fertilizers to the farmers in Abeokuta, on Thursday said gesture is part of the federal government intervention to improve farm yeild, and to bring down the cost of food items.
The lawmaker who acknowledged the severe impart of government policies on the economy, however called on the farmers to be patient with the President Bola Tinubu administration.
He therefore encouraged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the agricultural inputs, adding that the country is in dire need of the farmers interventions.
“This distribution of the fertilizers is part of government’s efforts to ameliorate the effects of the removal of fuel subsidy, we must therefore be patient with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his renewed effort to transform the country”, he said
Meanwhile, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abiodun on Inter-Ethnic Affairs, and representative of the Arewa community, Hon. Haddi Sani lauded Hon. Olumide Osoba for taking a good step to encourage farmers in the state.
He emphasized that the country can only grow out of its present situation if government prioritises production palliatives, as against giving out food palliatives to the citizens.
He also expressed his appreciation to the lawmaker in ensuring that Arewa community benefitted from the fertilizers, assuring that that the farmers would put the fertilisers to good use.
“This is the only way to go. Governments must discontinued it’s food palliatives drive and begin to give attention to production palliatives to farmers, manufacturing companies and other source of engaging Nigerians in developmental approach.
