Ogun State is blessed. The Gateway State is home to hundreds of brilliant and intelligent people, male and female, running things at the highest level in business, entertainment, governance and politics. One of Ogun’s pride and a top cabinet member of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Dr Iziaq Adekunle Salako, the Honourable Minister of State for Environmental, is the star of the day. The Ogun West-born environmental leader turned another year older today. He rang in his 57th birthday in style. Expectedly, he’s the main news item today, with his colourful pictures accompanied by heartfelt messages flying across major social media platforms.
Described as a visionary leader, Dr Salako has carved a niche for himself as one of the key players in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu’s government. A man full of wisdom and capacity, Dr. Salako, since his appointment, has covered himself in glory. With the cooperation of the Minister of Environment, Honourable Balarabe Abbas Lawal, the junior minister hit the ground running immediately, tackling the country’s pressing environmental challenges, breaking boundaries, and setting new standards for excellence. Dr. Salako has been at the forefront of efforts to promote Nigeria’s environmental sustainability and programmes aimed at preserving the country’s natural resources and improving public health through better environmental policies and management. In less than two years on the job, Dr. Salako has brought his experience to bear on the important national assignment he’s been assigned to oversee by President Tinubu.
Considering his impressive strides in office, this milestone occasion calls for celebration. But the honourable Minister is not rolling out the drums or hosting a lavish party to celebrate his birthday. Apart from being focused on his national assignment at the moment, Honourable Salako is a public servant with human feelings. His modesty has endeared him to a lot of people from all walks of life. On the home front, he is a force to reckon with when it comes to politics in his home state of Ogun. Alongside other political gladiators from his zone, Ogun West, they have been able to successfully put Ogun West Senatorial District back in the front seat of Ogun politics.
