Obasanjo Calls for Sustenance of Agriculture Initiatives, Encourages Livestock Farming

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has emphasized the importance of sustaining agriculture initiatives, citing his Operation Feed the Nation program as an example. He stated, “Had my successors sustained it, it would have further enhanced the nation’s food sufficiency.” Obasanjo made this remark at the inauguration of a new factory and product launch by Danone Limited, owners of Fan Milk Plc, in Ibadan on Thursday.

Obasanjo encouraged Nigerians to invest in livestock farming, urging the Oyo State Government to tap into its potential for livestock and dairy production.

He advised the state government to educate local farmers on dairy farming practices, saying, “Let Oyo State be a dairy centre.” He also commended Fan Milk-Danone for its 60-year investment in Nigeria.

Governor Seyi Makinde, represented by his deputy Bayo Lawal, assured investors of his administration’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

He appreciated Fan Milk-Danone’s economic impact and provision of quality nutrition through its products. Makinde commended the company’s resilience amidst economic challenges, saying, “We will continue to provide security and facilities and implement policies that support your business.”
