United Kingdom, UK-based Nigerian celebrity pastor Tobi Adegboyega, founder of the Salvation Proclaimers Anointed Church, or SPAC Nation, is a newsmaker who’s constantly in the spotlight, mainly for his luxurious lifestyle. But Pastor Adegboyega is not your regular run-of-the-mill cleric dominating the religious space in Nigeria. He is unconventional in his approach to the Christian faith. Pastor Adegboyega emerged from a family of pastors and was shown the way of the Lord right from childhood. He actually delivered his first sermon at the tender age of 8, according to one of his interviews. His foundation in the Christian faith was solid. And it’s no surprise that he ended up in God’s vineyard despite his history of vices such as drugs and other negative social activities.
But like a tree planted by the river of water, Pastor Adegboyega has continued to bear fruit. One of such fruits is the SPAC Nation, described as the fastest-growing black church in the UK. Pastor Adegboyega’s antecedents actually shaped his church’s mission. His time in the ‘wilderness’ was a dress rehearsal for what he was born for: saving young people from depression and hopelessness through sound teaching of the gospel. Pastor Adegboyega’s church, domiciled in the UK, is home to a large crowd of young black people from all corners of the world. According to Pastor Adegboyega, the core part of his calling is mentoring young blacks in London with a violent history, such as drug addicts, ex-convicts, criminals, and people with no family who are suffering from depression. To his credit, Pastor Adegboyega has turned around the positive destinies of many young blacks in London. His church has become a sort of rehabilitation centre for young people from different backgrounds seeking a way out of life’s many troubles. Unknown to many, that’s why Pastor Adegboyega is loved by his SPAC Nation family. His anointing has rubbed off positively on their lives. And there is evidence to show that the Lord is indeed good.
Like many of his compatriots, Pastor Adegboyega left Nigeria after training as a lawyer in search of higher educational pursuits. While in the process of obtaining a doctorate, he was called by God to follow him. Like I always say, the rest is history. The one who called him has backed him up during his highs and lows. He’s still standing despite all the attacks on his personality because of his realness. Unruffled, the dandy man of God has carried on, focusing on what’s important and ignoring baseless rumours and distractions. Unlike most new-generation churches in Nigeria, Pastor Adegboyega does not place emphasis on tithes and offerings. Outside of the church environment, his flourishing investments give him all the trappings of success. Yes, he’s flamboyant and living life to the fullest. But he’s not living on the tithes and offerings of his congregation. Apart from his clerical work, Pastor Adegboyega once revealed that he started investing in cryptocurrency and a chain of African food businesses as far back as 2016. He’s also into property development. A serial investor in his own right, Pastor Adegboyega is not lacking in the compassion department. Empathy is Pastor Adegboyega’s middle name. He has carried out many interventions, including empowerment schemes. Pastor Adegboyega once hosted legendary Juju icon Chief Ebenezer Obey in his London home, where he showed his Omoluabi traits.
