The World Standstill As Timi Clark & Siblings Give Their Late Patriarch, Chief Edwin Clark, A Carnival-Like Burial.

The Edwin Clark family has commanded the attention of the world since the burial ceremonies for the late elder statesman and former leader of the Pan Nigeria Delta Forum, Chief Edwin Clark kicked off on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 with a lecture held in his honour at the NAF Conference Centre & Suites, Abuja. It has been raining tributes, from presidency to state governments, high-ranking politicians and movers and shakers of the Nigerian society in honour of the late former Former Federal Commissioner for Information. But what we’ve seen so far is just a glimpse of the main action scheduled to run from this weekend to Tuesday, May 13, 2025. According to the lineup of events released by the family, the whole of Delta state will ground to a halt on Tuesday, May 13th, 2025,as family, friends and Deltans are expected to turn out in force to honour the memory of a prominent son of the soil and bid him a final farewell.
According to the details provided by the family at a press conference held by the family ahead of the state burial, the grand finale of the carnival-like burial is slated for May 13th, 2025. Kicking off with a lecture at the NAF Conference Centre & Suites, Abuja. That was followed by a Valedictory Session held at the Senate Chambers on Thursday, May 8th, 2025. On Friday, May 9th, a Day of Tribute was held at the NAF Conference Centre & Suites, Abuja. Today, Saturday, May 10th, 2025, is scheduled to hold a Wrestling Contest in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital while a Service of Sngs will be held at St. James’ Anglican Church, Asokoro, Abuja. And that’s not all, a boat regatta, Port Harcourt Masquerade and Candlelight memorial will take centrestage on Sunday, May 11th, in Yenagoa, Kiagbodo in Delta State. On Monday, May 12th, 2025, a Commendation Service will be held at the National Christian Centre, Abuja, while a Valedictory Court session will be held simultaneously at High Court of Justice, Warri, Delta State.
The grand finale is scheduled for Tuesday May 13th, 2025, where a Lying in state will hold at Edwin Clark University, Kiagbodo Town, Delta State by 10 am and a Commendation service slated to hold at Edwin Clark University, Kiagbodo, Delta State. At 11 am, according to the release by the family, a funeral service will be held, and a reception will follow by 1pm, while internment and an all-night vigil will start by 5pm. The event will be wrapped up on May 18th,2025, with a Thanksgiving Service. The late Chief Edwin Clark was Nigeria’s former Federal Commissioner for Information. He was also elected a Senator during the Second Republic. He is survived by family, relatives, successful children including Timi Clark, the Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Exclusif Abuja, and grandchildren.
